All your trash goes to the ocean

As I’ve walked more through town the last month or so to get my exercise I pick up aluminum cans for recycling. My eyes scan the ground. I’ve learned to look at those grates in the corner of the road that shunt all the rainfall off into the river. They usually have organic material on them– twigs, leaves, and grass. I have also found a LOT of aluminum cans on them. The can gets smashed by a car, then swept along in a rain, and sits on the grate. It has gone as far downhill as it can for now. The trash in your life is the same way. It floats down to the river and the ocean, where it impacts everyone else. What can you do?

Don’t throw your trash on the road. Clean up after yourself. Keep our oceans clean. In other words, apologize.
